In the last thirty years I have had the opportunity to drive horses in many different disciplines. I started out with Shetland ponies, then went to Standard bred race horses, and then to show horses (with National Championships in fine harness and pleasure driving) and then on to singles, tandems, unicorns, fours, six, and eight horse draft hitches.
In all these years of training, using a standard jog cart to work my harness horses, I have thought there should be a safer cart, for both the horse and the driver.
I wanted a cart that you could hitch to quickly, step up on the cart with your long lines in hand, all while having shafts that the horse couldn’t kick over. I also wanted to have as much freedom as possible for teaching the horse to turn and to see more of the horse than just their hind quarters and the back of their neck.

Please take time to watch the short video. It starts with showing how the quick hitch works. The quick hitch has been successfully used on every harness racing track for, at least, the last 25 years. Your cart comes with a new Walsh harness including the back band, the quick hitch coupler, crupper, and a Buxton breast collar. Lines and bridle are not included.

The Safeway cart is made of all steel one-inch square tubing with a 1/8 inch wall. The wheels are the best all stainless motorcycle-style that money can buy. The rear castors have pneumatic tires. The shafts are made of one inch round tubing. Every bend in the shafts are made of ¾ inch solid cold roll steel. The reason for the bends being solid steel is in the case of an accident the shafts can be put back to shape without breaking. The cart and shafts are powder coated to your specific colors. Shafts have the male part of the quick hitch coupler. Please note the shaft tips are only long enough to fit the coupler. This is so you can’t break a shaft off by hitting a fence or other obstacle.
Please take time to see the video and if you have any question, please call me at 405 370 0808.
Sincerely,
Bill Addis
