"Bill & Terry, Thanks! Both of you are always a joy to work with, not to mention what a great job you continue to do year after year! I was so pleased on the response we got from our late consignments. Our horses brought more than we anticipated! Thanks again!"
-Randy & Angie Sullivan
“I’ve attended the Addis Auctions mainly in Kentucky. Bill works real closely with the buyers and the sellers to keep everyone honest and I appreciate that. We’ve bought both Hunter and English horses at the sales and have had wonderful success. We’ve resold some and done very well. We’ll be at the 2004 Tattersalls Sale selling three and looking for one to take home.”
- Allison Grosse
“We try to attend both the Kentucky and the Madison sales every year. We’ve done well at the Tattersalls Sale. We buy some young stock, work with them and then resell them when they’re a bit more mature and started. We always buy five or six each time we go. We were a bit disappointed in the Madison Sale this last time because we felt the Western and Hunter horses got a bit of short shrift behind the English-type horses. But overall we’ve been very happy with the sales.”
- Chris George
“I bought two horses at an Addis Auction and found the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly. There was a problem with the paperwork on one of the horses and Bill Addis assisted me ‘above and beyond’ what was necessary. It was a good, friendly experience and I felt I was treated as a friend, though they certainly don’t know me. Bill and Terry Addis are really wonderful people. I will be back at an Addis Auction in the near future!”
- Bobbie Patterson
“Addis Auctions are a great resource for both buyers and sellers. I bought a gelding at the Tattersalls 2003 Sale named Hombres Malachi. He was Top Ten at the 2004 U.S. Nationals in BOTH Open Gelding Halter and AOTH. The honesty and integrity that Bill Addis puts into his sales is frankly the best anywhere.”
- Venita Proffit
“I was looking for a special horse for a friend at an Addis Auction. I found the horse and in the catalog the horse was listed as ‘Sweepstakes’. Apparently it was a mistake because the horse wasn’t a Sweepstakes horse. When I told Bill about it, he said, ‘…we’ll do whatever it takes to make you happy with the purchase.’ He made good on the catalog. Integrity and honesty are bywords at an Addis Auction. I recommend them highly. They do a quality job.”
- Bobbie Richine
“We’ve had wonderful luck with the horses we purchased at the Addis Auctions. We bought VSH Night Watch at the 2003 Tattersalls Sale. My daughter, Andrea Cortese (16) went Top Ten on him at the 2004 National Show Horse Finals in the English Pleasure 17 & Under. We bought Butterfly Kisses at the 2003 Madison Sale and my daughter, Alex Cortese (14) was 2004 Champion Half-Arabian Region 18 English Pleasure 17 & Under riding her. Needless to say we are delighted and satisfied customers.”
- Lisa Cortese
“Bill Addis has proven through longevity that his sales are necessary, honest and THE place to buy or sell horses. Battaglia Farms will continue to support the Addis sales, year after year. They work very well for us and for our clients.”
- Bob Battaglia
“The Addis Auctions have created an honest, realistic, new approach to marketing at public auction for hundreds of Arabian and Half-Arabian horses. Over the last few years more trainers are putting better and better horses in the sales. They’re taking off their Reserves as well, making the Addis Auctions an excellent marketing venue for both the buyer and seller. The auctions have really helped the Rooker marketing plan. They certainly take the worry out of whether or not we’re going to get our horses sold. We plan on sticking with our current game plan of bringing our entire two-year-old foal crop to the Addis Auction in Madison, Wisconsin, at least for the next few years. If it keeps improving at the rate it has, we may do it forever.”
- Shawn Rooker
“I believe Bill Addis is one of the rare people involved with Arabians who puts the Industry and the horse in front of his own personal agendas. Like most trainers I sometimes get overloaded at the barn and need to market horses quickly for customers. It’s a great way to sell horses, nice horses. It provides an opportunity for people new to the business to get involved economically. We attend the sales regularly and it’s easy to see that better and better horses are available all the time. We’re putting good and top horses in the sales consistently. I’m always hearing stories about horse people, trainers too, who bought one at the auctions and went on to win at the national shows … sometimes just a few months later.”
- Vicki Humphrey
“I like sending good horses to the Addis Auctions and I like having those good horses go to good people. We’ve had the high selling horses at the Tattersalls Auctions consistently, year after year, because we make it a point to send top notch horses in shape to sell. We’ve noticed that people occasionally don’t get the money they want at auction and that it’s often related to the fact that their horses haven’t been prepared and conditioned appropriately. Consequently, we’re opening a special division at Stachowski Training Stables specifically to condition and prepare horses for these auction sales. I think it will prove advantageous to breeders and horse owners and help them make the most of the auction marketing opportunity”.
- Jim Stachowski
“After being a breeder of Arabian horses for thirty-six years I’ve recently been attending and purchasing some rare and unique Polish Arabians at the Addis Auctions. I’m primarily a purebred breeder, but I couldn’t help noticing that the Tattersalls VII Sale offered the exceptional Paint mare, I Dreamed The Dream, and Tattersalls VIII outdid itself by offering the fantastic half-Arabian/Appaloosa gelding, MPA Tsnazzy Dresser. Another interesting opportunity at Tattersalls VIII was the Hanoverian mare, Delphia. Needless to say, there seems to be something for every taste and pocketbook at the Addis Sales. If you’re not attending, you’re missing some great opportunities. See you at the next Addis Equine Auction!”
- Lydell Sannes
“I’ve found the Addis Equine Auctions to be a good place to market nice family-type Arabian horses as well as some great, young show prospects. The yearling colt we sold at the Addis Auction was a full sibling to a number of others that we’ve readily sold at private treaty. Frankly, we needed the stall space and we simply can’t keep all of the good, young prospects we have in the barn. I was very pleased that he went to a good home and a good show barn. It’s a bonus that we’re in the upper Midwest and the colt went to the southeast. It’s a good marketing tool that we’ll be utilizing again. The Addis Auctions provide people with the opportunity to purchase top quality horses, often at very reasonable prices.”
- Mike Neal
“Dolorosa Arabians has sold well over a hundred and fifty horses through the Addis Equine Auctions. We are a real breeding farm producing 25 to 40 foals each year. Without the Addis Sales we would have simply had to stop breeding. I credit Bill Addis with single-handedly keeping Dolorosa Arabians in the Arabian horse business. Immediately prior to the existence of these sales there was no market at all for the average Arabian horse, for young untried performance horses, or for horses whose owners were not in a position to bring them to market. Addis filled that need. In the last few years the Addis Sales have also become a great place for horsemen to find high quality young show prospects and show, endurance and pleasure horses. The horses we’ve sold through the Addis Sales frequently go on to be great horses for their new owners; sometimes even big time, national winning show horses. Bill Addis gets my vote for Horseman of the Year. He’s one man making a big, big difference in our industry.”
- Rob Bick
“I’ve known Bill Addis for years. He puts on a top notch sale every single time. He and his wife Terry go to great lengths to provide a quality experience for both the buyer and the seller. As a team and as individuals they are beyond reproach …100% honest and very refreshing to deal with. The sales they put on are more than just auction sales …they’re events; something that all of us look forward to”.
- Gordon Potts
“This year (Great Lakes 2005) was my first year going to an Addis Auction. I have always heard really good things about it. I bought a wonderful filly from the auction at a really great price. She is a dream, and I will be back next year!”
- Amanda Wilson, Kidz Horse
“I just wanted to write you a short note to express my sincere thanks for a job well done. My wife and I attended the August (2005) sale in Madison last month. This was her first ever auction. For myself, I have been to a couple, but none run as smoothly or professionally as the one we just attended. Your staff was friendly and helpful at all times to a couple of amateurs like us, and they made our transition from bidders to owners a smooth and pleasant experience. We bought two horses that we are well pleased with. The first impression you left with my wife and my 7-year-old daughter made them believe that Addis Auctions should be the only ones we attend in the future. As such, we will see you in November for the Ohio auction.
- Rich and Susie Molloy
“I noticed that you didn’t have any success stories listed on your web site, so it seemed only fair to tell you one. We attended the March 2004 sale at Oklahoma City and were very impressed. There were horses there for many different types of buyers, and as most sellers were owners or trainers of the horses, it seemed the presentation was much less pressured that when ‘horse traders’ are involved. The facilities were incredible for watching the horses under saddle and for riding a prospect if the interest was there. We were looking for a gelding for trail and possible endurance riding. After looking through the catalog, then seeing the horses in stalls and in the ring, we felt well prepared to make a purchase. My #1 choice went for more than my budget allowed, but my #2 choice, CMA Piper, was purchased by us at a price we were well pleased with. CMA Piper had spent his previous life as a Hunter show horse, but evidently had not been a big success there. Now, after a few months learning to deal with Ozark hills, creek crossings, and living outdoors instead of in a barn, he has found his niche. He is now a trail horse deluxe, and will enter his first 25-mile endurance ride this fall. Whenever I ride him here in Foxtrotter and Quarter Horse country, everybody always raves about his manners, his carriage, and beautiful way of going. While many of the horses at your sale were obviously from show backgrounds, or had visible show potential, success is more than just trophies and ribbons. In this instance, success is pairing the right horse with the right rider doing the right thing for both of them. Your sale offered us the best chance of achieving that. Update: At the Indian Territory Endurance ride on October 2, 2004 at Lake Oolagah, Oklahoma, Piper competed in the 25 mile Limited Distance ride. When the ride was over, Piper had finished third out of 25 entries, and more importantly, after carrying 210 pounds of rider and tack, received the Best Condition Award. Pretty good for a first time starter. Most importantly, both rider and horse had a good time.”

“I attended my first Addis Auction this last weekend in Oklahoma (March 2005) and was very impressed. I had consigned a yearling colt which a friend hauled in with her two-year-old on Thursday. Although my horse did not bring much, he did sell to what I believe will be a caring home. A good home has always been more important to me than money. I had advertised my colt last summer and fall on the internet with little result. The Addis staff was very helpful and the girls in the office were able to answer all my questions. When my friend arrived on Thursday she was greeted and even given a tack stall at no charge. Even before I sent in my consignment, Terry was very helpful, both on the phone and through the e-mail. I am already looking forward to the 2006 sale. Thanks again for all your help.”
- Candy Wilhelm
“I attended the 2004 Tattersalls sale in Kentucky and bought the 3-year-old Half-Arabian filly Classicc Design. I would just like to say one big thank you to all of you who put on such a great sale. ‘Classy’ is the best horse I have ever owned and we’ve gone through a few. She is everything we could ever ask for and more. Most of all, Shawn loves her, which is a huge compliment considering the horses I have had before. My mom and I were really pleased with the quality and variety of horse. Thank you so much and we will surely see you next year and many years after that. Thanks again, and maybe we will be one of the success stories after the Half-Arab classes at Youth Nationals this year.”
- Anna Fagan
“Thank you for providing an excellent professional venue for selling my Arabian gelding. Although he brought less than I had hoped for, he went to a good home. Supply and demand. I have bought and sold at your two other auctions in recent years. The last horse you sold for me in Madison, WI went to a top endurance rider who has been 1 st of at least Top 10 this past year in all of his races. He was not going to suit my purposes of showing in the hunter world…so he has found his niche. Another satisfied buyer! Don’t let all of the naysayers beat you up with their negative opinions…you provide a competently run service for most of us. Thank you again.”
- Cathy Lengeling
“We have purchased over forty horses through Addis Equine Sales and have success stories for almost all of them. In particular, Txas Tornado (by Samors Afire) was purchased at the 1998 Tattersall sale from Chuck Siemon for my father and stepmother. As a 4-year-old, we went on to win almost every class he showed in (Western, Hunter and Halter). He received his Legions of Honor and Merit in one year. We sold him within our barn to Lizzy Dodd who went on to successfully show Tex at the Junior exhibitor level. She earned a National Champion in Huntseat Equitation in addition to numerous other national wins. In 2004 it came time to sell again, this time to an Adult Amateur and Tex proved himself again as he was named 2004 U.S. Reserve National Champion Open and Canadian Reserve National Champion AOTR with current owner Linda Crank. Another success story involves a two-year-old prospect a client purchased in 2002. We broke him out that winter and took him to Scottsdale 2004 where he won the Country English Pleasure Jr. Horse class by unanimous decision and then sold to Ken Milne and family where he was named Youth National Top Ten in JTR and JOTR. We have many other great stories about horses we have bought through Bill’s auctions. We highly recommend this medium for first time buyers to national level trainers, not only to purchase quality show horses or show prospects but also to market horses with varying levels of training and talent.”
- Julie Daniel-Adams
“I want to thank you for the opportunity to sell my horse at the Tattersalls sale in November 2002. My horse sold for $15,500 to Lisa Corbin of Ashland, Ohio. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I could get that much for her! I can’t tell you how happy Lisa is with my horse. She had been looking for a horse like mine for quite awhile and couldn’t find one that her two kids could show. Since the show season has begun, her kids have won just about every class they have entered, and even a Region 14 Championship and a Reserve Championship! Next year Lisa plans on taking the horse to Youth Nationals. I know my thank you is long overdue, but I just wanted to let you know how successful your auction was on a personal note. I am just thrilled with the home my horse found. It was also helpful to have two venues of auctions to choose from. I chose the Preferred Session and put no reserve on the sale. I felt that the bidders in attendance would be from the kind of home I wanted my horse to go to. I hope to bring along an old friend of mine to this year’s Tattersalls who is looking for a new horse for her daughter to show in 4-H. I have highly encouraged her to consider your auction, mainly because of the quality of horses that would fit her price range and because of the fact I know most of the owners and trainers of the sale horses. Update/7-29-2004: I just got a phone call from Cindy Clinton that my former horse, CA Peppermint Twist, just went Reserve National Champion in H/A Walk/Trot Equitation. at Youth Nationals!”
- Linda Laufer
“I have shown the mare that I bought at your Oklahoma City auction (2001) in 3 class A shows before she got too large in her pregnancy. Out of those three shows, she won 2 Reserve Championships and 1 Grand Championship! Not a shabby beginning in my first year of showing.”
- Linda Ferguson
“I wanted to say ‘Thank you’ to both of you and your associates. You put on another very nice sale and we were able to add a good broodmare to our herd at a very reasonable price. Keep up the good work. This industry really needs auctions as a way to sell Arabians.”

“MULBERRY”

3 Time U.S. National Champion Country English
1 Time Canadian National Champion Country Englsih
“ELLA BERRY EA”

August 30, 2005
Dr. Robert Kelly is a well-known amateur rider and small Arabian horse breeder from Pfafftown, North Carolina . Beginning with *Muscat-bred horses Robert bought and bred a number of good horses at his River Stone Farm, but his dream, that of riding a first class English horse, eluded him.
“I’ve been looking for a Country or English Pleasure purebred mare to show amateur for many years,” Robert says. “I bought one untrained a few years ago and that just didn’t work out. I looked at many that were simply too expensive for me and tried riding Hunter Pleasure. Finally, several friends and advisors in the breed suggested that I look into buying a horse at the Tattersall’s Sale in November. With the help of mentors Rick and Laura Gault I bid on a young, grey mare, Ella Berry EA (Hucklebey Berry x AA-Estrella by Gdansk). I loved her from the minute I laid eyes on her. At four-years-old she’d already been the 2004 Region 15 Champion Country English 18-39 and a Reserve Champion in Country Junior Horse.”
Consigned by Brittany Sutton of Collins, Ohio , Ella Berry EA was Lot 97 at the 2004 Tattersall’s Sale , and quite the “hot” ticket. Nearly a dozen different bidders pursued her during the course of her time center stage, but Dr. Kelly had the winning bid at $22,000. The second highest selling horse of the 2004 sale, Ella Berry EA went immediately into training with Rick Gault and entered her first show with Dr. Kelly the following March.
“In March we went to Williamston , North Carolina for the Old Dominion Horse Show,” Robert says. “It was our first show as a team and we won the Country Pleasure AOTR Championship. I was ecstatic. The next show was Raleigh and we came away with a third, went home and got down to work in earnest. At Region 12 ‘Ella’ and I had good rides and took home the Championship in Country English 40 & Over.”

“Ella is so much better than I ever thought she would be,” Robert says. “For such a young horse she is so solid and we have this great mutual admiration and respect for each other. I try to help instead of hinder her talents and she is very affectionate and takes good care of me in the show ring. At the Canadian Nationals I was hoping beyond hope for a Top Ten and I was so pleased when we were called out for that. It never occurred to me until they called my number twice that we could win a National Championship. For me it’s a lifelong dream come true. It was truly one of the happiest moments of my life.”
Ten months after the Tattersall’s Sale where she was purchased Ella Berry EA and Dr. Robert Kelly were named 2005 Canadian Country English ATR National Champions and then followed up that big win by taking a 2005 Canadian Reserve National title in the ultra competitive Country English AAOTR 40 & Over. They’ll be together with Rick Gault Stables at the 2005 U.S. Nationals in Albuquerque in October.
Rick’s wife Laura Gault was also at the 2004 Tattersall’s Sale and had considered bidding on Ella Berry EA personally. Instead she chose to buy Lot 21, Citybythebay A (Afire Bey V x GFI City Girl by Khemosabi). Laura and the lovely eight-year-old bay mare teamed up to take a Top Ten award in the 2005 Canadian National Country English ATR class.
“I also had my eye on ‘Ella’ at the Tattersall’s Sale ,” Laura says. “Instead I bought Citybythebay A. White Horse Farm consigned the mare and I paid $4,700.00 for her. How delighted I am that I bid for this great show horse. We’re looking forward to an exciting future together in the show ring.”
“WHISKEY GLOW”

Whiskey Glow is a 13-year-old purebred. He has 11 National Championships and 8 Reserve Championships in English Pleasure, Native Costume, Park, and Driving. Two of his championships and 2 reserves came this year (2005) at Youth Nationals in English Pleasure and Native Costume. He is owned and ridden by Chelsea Knoop and trained by Mike Budd, Tri-Color Farm.
“ALL PUFFED UP”

‘Puffy’ is a really cool horse. Not many horses carry two amateur riders to Top Ten wins as four-year-olds, especially in a division as tough as H/A Country Pleasure! My daughter had only ridden him a few times before she showed him at U.S. Nationals, a testimony to his training and quality. His other wins include Regional Reserve Championships and a Buckeye Top 8 as well as only one defeat on Class A competition. It seems that Addis Auctions is the place to find your next future winner.
Diane and Randy Varley of Cuba Lake, New York own Puffy. He was bred by Dolorosa Arabians and was purchased from an Addis Auction by Sharon Blendinger, trained by Sharon Blendinger (of Stachowski Farm) and then shown by Diane Varley, Dr. Lori Foster, and Sharon Blendinger.
“KLASSIFIED”

“We purchased Klassified from the Addis Auction in 2002. He has carried 2 different children to multiple National Championships and 6 Top Tens in some of the toughest competition I’ve ever seen. He’s never taken a lame step and he truly is a delight and a treasure. This family would never have experienced such life accomplishments if he hadn’t trotted across the stage of the Addis Auction. To this day, he still lives and wins at Legacy Arabians. Thank you, Bill and Terry.
- Kathie Williams, Legacy Arabians
“CHAIRMAN OF THE BASK”

“I couldn’t be happier with my H/A Country horse, Chairman of the Bask, purchased through Addis Auctions. I thought my first two horses and four years of showing were really good --- until I bought ‘Chairman’. Now I truly have the right horse for me. We have been fortunate to have some wonderful rides and wins this year: Buckeye Champion, Region 12 Top Five, Region 15 Unanimous Champion and Canadian National Champion. Boy, am I thrilled!!!
Thanks.
- Gale Waldon
“ KENTUCKY RAIN”

“We purchased Kentucky Rain from Addis Equine Auctions several years ago as a potential kid’s horse. After 3 months of evaluation and training, we sold him to a very lucky family who will cherish him forever. 3 Top Tens and 2 Reserve National Championships later, we couldn’t be any happier with our find. We come back every year looking for another diamond in the rough! Thanks for this great venue to buy and sell horses.”
- Rob Luton and Lisa Luton-Hodges
